In March 2025, Ofsted confirmed that Tacolneston Primary maintains its Good standards.

The ‘standards identified at the previous inspection’ when the school was ‘judged good for overall effectiveness’ have been maintained, Ofsted inspectors reported.

The high expectations, broad ambitious curriculum and rich range of opportunities on offer at Tacolneston Primary Academy were praised by Ofsted.

Pupils enjoy coming to this welcoming school’ inspectors reported. ‘The school expects the best of all its pupils’, and ‘Pupils behave well in class and work hard.’

Inspectors observed the kindness children show to one another, and how children develop ‘confidence, resilience and independence’ and are ‘given a wide range of opportunities to take on responsibilities and develop their leadership’.

The curriculum was noted as a strength of the school. ‘The school has a broad and ambitious curriculum’ which ‘identifies important knowledge, skills and vocabulary that pupils need to know in all subjects.

Inspectors praised the teaching in the school, concluding that children are ‘taught effectively and have plenty of opportunities to practice what they have learned’ right from the start in Reception. In reading, children were seen to ‘gain the knowledge and skills they need quickly to become confident and fluent readers’, and, in English and Maths, ‘teachers check pupils’ understanding well, using this information to provide extra practice or further teaching when required.’

Inspectors reported that ‘pupils’ wider personal development is a strength of the school’, with ‘trips and visits that link well to the curriculum, helping to deepen learning’ and children able to benefit from ’developing their talents and interests’.

The positive experience children have at the school was seen in the way ‘older pupils take pride in supporting younger pupils to feel happy and safe’ and the school’s ‘buddy’ system was seen to ‘support pupils to play happily together at playtimes’, with ‘rich opportunities for pupils to experience adventurous play.’

Behaviour in and around school is polite and kind’ the inspectors observed, and in lessons children were seen to ‘concentrate well, work hard and engage positively in class discussions.’

Inspectors concluded that ‘pupils live up to the school’s vision of ‘shine as bright as the sky’ through their achievements, the extensive responsibilities they take on’, and their ‘kindness to one another’.
